Text Box: Apparatus

The unit consists of a 2008 Ford F-250 diesel, ATV, off-road package, towing package, 4-man cab. Carried on the unit is a Power Hawk Rescue System, which is very similar to the "Jaws of Life," except it is a highly mobile package which will operate using a wide array of power sources. This unit can be used in hazardous environments, inside structures, in tight spaces and underwater. It can also operate remotely, making it a smart choice for off-road operations. This unit also carries support items for the unit along with flares, first aid equipment and items for quick response. In essence, it serves as a quick-attack-mini-Rescue. The primary function of the truck is to tow the off-road trailer. The trailer is a 27-foot Haulmark, equipped with its own power supply, lighting, heating, cooling and all the equipment needed to support a remote rescue operation. While a mission is going on, the trailer becomes a command post.

Contained in the trailer is a 2008 Polaris Ranger 6X6, equipped with a winch, additional lighting, doors, roof, windshield, heat, skid plates and a tow package. This piece, known as ATV-2 is used in remote operations and search work. An off-road trailer can be pulled behind the ATV-2, and is used for personnel and equipment transport as well as transporting the injured from remote locations. The trailer is as wide as ATV-2 and has 2 floating axles and high flotation tires which enable it to be pulled just about anywhere.  We operate a second ATV, which is known as ATV-1, this unit is also a 6X6 but it is smaller and is currently in reserve status. The primary response is to off-road and remote rescue calls, or any area with an inaccessible emergency. The secondary functions include Search operations and rehabilitation at big events.
